At nVent, we celebrate a different Inclusion and Diversity focus each month. In January, our focus is on Supply Chain, specifically our Supplier Diversity Program. We embed supplier diversity into our culture because partnering with diverse suppliers increases our access to talented business partners, resulting in more innovative ideas and solutions for our customers.
To celebrate, we held a Supplier Diversity themed nVent Connects event at our St. Louis Park, Minnesota location. At this event, employees participated in an in-person Q&A about Supplier Diversity with Vice President and Associate General Counsel Allison Riter and Senior Director of Supply Chain Dago Darezzo. The team also provided attendees cookies from a women-owned business.
“When we think about supplier diversity, how do we touch the hearts of our people?” said Darezzo. “nVent’s program for supplier diversity is evolving. Supplier diversity is important because it is in our day-to-day lives. We all know someone that is underrepresented in our society.”
When asked what nVent employees can do to help advance supplier diversity, Riter stated, “Be thoughtful about what options you have for suppliers. There are methods that nVent employees can use for how to be deliberate when making supplier choices. nVent strives to continue to expand the number of diverse suppliers.”
We want all our employees to work in a place that actively welcomes their uniqueness and ensures each employee’s voice is heard, respected and represented. We also celebrate and welcome uniqueness and authenticity in our supplier community. Supplier diversity is a key component of our Inclusion & Diversity strategy.
We define a “diverse supplier” as any business that is disadvantaged due to its underrepresented ownership or its size. While the Supplier Diversity program currently prioritizes suppliers indirect and direct services and materials within the United States and Canada, it will continue to evolve in the upcoming years.
