nvent Environmental Transformation Plan

nVent's Environmental Transformation Plan

At nVent, we are committed to environmental stewardship. We are continuing our efforts to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and use more renewable energy. Our innovation, adaptability and continuous improvement approach helps us protect natural resources and provide value to our customers and the communities where we live and work.

nVent has developed an environmental transformation plan and best practices assessment for our sites to identify environmental improvement projects. These on-site projects focus on decreasing our energy and water consumption and reducing and diverting waste. The best practices assessment is utilized to identify environmental projects which are then reviewed, prioritized and tracked as part of our environmental transformation plan. The environmental transformation plan includes emissions calculators that allow employees to quantify the potential impact of a proposed project. Projects are reviewed based on overall impact, potential contribution toward our goals and the resources required for their implementation. Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) leaders meet regularly with facility site leaders and employees to track the progress of key projects.

Facility site leaders collaborate on best practice assessments with our Grass Roots Employee Resource Group (ERG). Members of the ERG were invited to participate in the assessment for their respective sites.  In 2023, 17 Grass Roots members representing 15 different sites completed the best practices assessment. This program helps employees identify meaningful sustainability actions specific to their local site. We encourage all our employees to drive safe and sustainable practices throughout nVent.

To drive continuous improvement, we are engaging our employees in our environmental sustainability improvement efforts. We are proud of our employees across the enterprise who have taken the initiative to help nVent achieve our environmental goals. For example, a cross-functional group of employees, including members from our facilities, engineering and EHS departments at our Anoka, Minnesota, U.S. location, began meeting monthly in 2022 to identify opportunities for sustainability projects. The team determines which processes at the site may need attention based on their level of energy or water consumption and develops action plans for their improvement. The team will be expanding in 2023.

Additionally, several of our teams went above and beyond in finding creative ways to save energy, including our site in Andrezieux, France, which implemented a heat exchanger on its air compressor to use extra heat to preheat water and save additional energy. This project was a part of a broad slate of actions that helped the site significantly reduce its natural gas consumption. We are proud of all our employees taking action to drive sustainability projects at nVent.
