Employee Resource Groups Collaborate to Produce Caregiver Series

Over the last four months, four nVent Employee Resource Groups (ERG) collaborated to produce a three-part series discussing caregiving, providing resources and connecting nVent employees with colleagues around the globe. The program was open for any nVent employee to attend. The ERGs that worked together to put on the series were ENCORE, ADAPT, Veterans and Connecting Cultures.

The Caregiver Series included three parts: Overview of Caregiving, Education and Resources; Panel Discussion – Caregiving Experiences; and Taking Care of Yourself – Managing Caregiver Stress. The Panel Discussion gave five nVent employees the floor to share their experiences of caregiving. Some of the inhibiting factors faced by individuals in need of caregiving include caring for those with disabilities, cancer, Parkinson's and surgeries that required more intensive post-op care. The panelists were from the United States, Japan and India and work in various segments of nVent.

All three parts of the Caregiver series were well attended by nVent employees, with the largest attendance coming in part one, with 400 attendees. Employees came together to share their experiences, listen and relate to others in similar situations. A common goal of the series was to provide courage and hope to others in caretaking. Some key takeaways from the Caregiver Series include not forgetting to take care of yourself while taking care of others and not being afraid to ask for help or support from friends and family while caretaking.

“The caregiver series is bringing unity to the many of us across nVent who are doing a substantial amount of challenging work at home and in our communities. This is a cross-ERG series because of the sheer number people providing care for elderly parents, children with disabilities, family members with mental health issues and the list goes on. I love that nVent recognizes and supports caregivers and is building a community, so we can better help each other,” said Katie Werner, Enterprise Sales Excellence Leader and Communications Leader for ADAPT ERG.

At the end of the series, nVent human resources representatives shared the various resources and benefits that nVent offers in support for caregivers. One of the most impactful offerings is the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through ComPsych, a global benefit. We are proud and thankful to our ERGs that collaborated to produce a caregiving series to support a wide variety of employees engaged in caregiving in their personal lives.
