RECRUITMENT PRIVACY NOTICE
This Recruitment Privacy Notice describes how nVent Electric plc and its affiliates (collectively "nVent") process your personal data when you submit it to us via our portal, websites or other recruitment mediums, whether online or offline.

TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT
When nVent collects your personal data, we collect what is relevant, adequate, and not excessive for the purpose it is collected.
Personal data we collect directly from you
We may collect the following personal data directly from you through a variety of sources, such as telephone, email, our online interfaces (including the chat functionalities and contact forms). These may include for example:
- Contact data, such as name, phone numbers, mailing address, and e-mail address;
- Professional and educational information related to your occupation, such as your current or previous employers, your job title, or other information about the organization with which you are affiliated. You may also provide your CV/resume and information about your qualifications or your education, such as your degrees, field of study, the institutions you have attended, languages, professional memberships, certifications, details on performance management ratings and compensation;
- Work permit, nationality, relationship with nVent employees
- Career preferences (e.g. short-term and long-term goals, willingness to relocate, date available to relocate and location preferences);
- Personal data derived from your participation in our recruitment process such as, for example, those obtained during interviews, the emails we exchange with you regarding your application or the conversations we have with you through an online chatbot, communication platform such as Microsoft Teams or text messages.
- Audio and visual information, such as your voice and likeness as captured in photographs, video or audio recordings if you participate in a phone or video interview, or if you visit our sites;
- Any other personal data that you voluntarily choose to provide to us such as marital status, children, hobbies, personal interests.

Personal data we collect through automated means
We may collect personal data about you through automated technologies. We use these technologies to collect information about your equipment, browsing actions, and other patterns, such as details of your visits to our online interfaces (including traffic data, log files and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on our online and mobile applications) and information about your computer and internet connection (including your IP address, operating system, and browser type). This information helps us estimate our audience size and usage patterns, store information about your preferences, speed up your searches and other functions, and recognize when you return to our online interfaces. Please refer to our Cookie Policy about the automated technologies we use and what they are used for.
Personal data we collect from other sources
Where permitted or required by law, we may also collect personal data from public sources or third party data providers, for example:
- Employment agencies, background/employment check or identity verification service providers;
- Recruitment agencies (for example, when a recruiter agency identifies you as a potential candidate);
- Publicly available information about you from sites such as LinkedIn or your current employer’s website. You may also choose to provide us with access to certain personal data stored by third parties (for example, LinkedIn, Xing, Twitter, Google or Facebook). By authorizing nVent to have access to this information you agree that we may collect store and use this information in accordance with this Recruitment Privacy Notice;
- By reference or word of mouth (for example, through a referral from a current or former employee). For referrals, the person who is referring you will be responsible for obtaining your consent to provide us with your personal data.
Sensitive personal data we collect
We may also collect certain types of sensitive personal data where necessary for the purpose of carrying out our specific rights or legal obligations in accordance with local laws. We may also process such sensitive personal data, where the information is necessary to accommodate your needs to your future working environment at nVent, for the future provision of employment benefits or with your explicit consent. The types of sensitive personal data may include:
- Government-issued identification number (such as social security number or passport number);
- Demographic information, which may include information about protected classifications, such as your age, gender, race, sexual orientation, marital status, or veteran status;
- Health information (for example, to accommodate any disability you may have, dietary restrictions or vaccination status);
- Information relating to your political opinions, religious beliefs or trade union membership;
- Information about your criminal offences or convictions as well as any other information deemed sensitive under applicable data privacy laws. Where permitted by law and to the extent applicable, nVent may also need to carry out background and/or criminal checks to determine your suitability for an open position or opportunity at nVent.
- Equal opportunity data, to allow us to better understand the action we need to take to attract, promote and retain a true inclusive and diverse workforce regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religious or philosophical beliefs and sexual orientation.
HOW AND WHY WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA
nVent uses your personal data for the following purposes:
- To evaluate your application and make hiring decisions (for example conduct assessments and interviews to ensure your skills and experiences match those required by the open position;
- To communicate with you and to inform you about the recruitment and/or your application or any other required communications;
- To comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and in order for us to establish exercise or defend a legal claim;
- Employment and corporate management (for example, establish a basic employment record if you are hired);
- To carry out aggregated reports /analysis regarding candidates’ activity data (for example career site traffic, candidate funnel, source of hire, recruiting campaign success);
- We may from time to time conduct surveys to improve our process. In case permitted by law or based on your specific consent we may ask you to voluntarily participate in such surveys every once in a while. These surveys will either be conducted by nVent or by a service provider.
- To send you communications via text message, subject to your express consent where required, specifically
- 1-1 text message communications in connection with your application to a particular job vacancy; and/or
- Text message campaign communications about employment opportunities, job affairs and application updates.
- personalized job recommendations to you based on your profile and/or preferences or other information that may be of interest for you such as nVent news, webinars and events. If you expressly choose to receive messages for this purpose, we conduct “profiling” to evaluate your suitability for particular job opportunities. This involves using a matching algorithm that is able to evaluate your employment profile and predict your eligibility for a particular job opportunity. This “profiling” is only used to enhance the suitability of job offerings if we approach you proactively on certain job opportunities and does not have any effect on the evaluation of your application.
LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL DATA
Certain jurisdictions require nVent to have a legal basis for processing personal data. Where applicable law requires us to justify our processing activities, our legal basis for collecting and using the personal data as described in this Recruitment Privacy Notice will depend on the purpose and scope of the processing as well as the types of personal data processed.
nVent has a lawful basis for each of the uses of your personal data in the above listed ways. Specifically, we process your personal data under the following bases:
- Consent. In some cases, nVent may only process your personal data after you have granted your prior consent. Please note that most likely we do have a different legal basis for processing (e.g. legitimate interest) so that consent is not needed. Where consent is required, by submitting your application, you provide your consent to nVent to collect and further process the personal data contained in your application. This consent explicitly covers the processing of sensitive personal data as described in this Recruitment Privacy Notice.
Where required, we collect separate explicit consent for the purposes described in the consent statement at the point of collection of the consent, for example when you sign up for news about nVent, create user profiles or register for an event or training.
- Legitimate Interests. nVent will process your personal data as necessary for our legitimate interests such as the recruitment, selection, evaluation and appointment of new employees; to facilitate communication between nVent and you; to improve our online and mobile applications as described above; to safeguard our IT infrastructure and intellectual property by logging your IP address for intrusion detection purposes, detect and prevent fraud and other crimes. Our legitimate interests are balanced against your rights and freedoms and we do not process your personal data if your rights and freedoms are outweighed by our processing.
- As Required by Law. We may also process your personal data when we are required or permitted to by law; to comply with monitoring obligations regarding equality of opportunity and diversity; to comply with government inspection, audits, and other valid requests from government or other public authorities; to respond to legal process such as subpoenas; to comply with health and safety requirements when you visit our sites; or as necessary for us to protect our interests or otherwise pursue our legal rights and remedies, defend litigation, and manage complaints or claims.
HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA
nVent may share your personal data with other nVent entities, brands, divisions, and subsidiaries. and with third parties.
We do not share your personal data with third parties except in the following circumstances.
- nVent group companies. nVent may share your personal data with other nVent entities, brands, divisions, and subsidiaries as nVent is a global organization for evaluating your profile and consideration for any recruitment opportunities at group level as well as any of the processing activities that nVent carries out as described in the above sections, ‘TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT’ and ‘HOW AND WHY WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA’.
- Service Providers. We may share your personal data with service providers that carry out activities at our direction. These activities could include any of the processing activities that nVent carries out as described in the above sections, ‘TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT’ and ‘HOW AND WHY WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA’. These recipients are contractually obliged to keep personal data protected and to limit its use only to the purposes for which your data was provided.
- Disclosures in connection with acquisitions or divestitures. Circumstances may arise where for strategic or other business reasons nVent decides to sell, buy, divest, merge or otherwise reorganize businesses in some countries. We may disclose information we maintain about you to the extent reasonably necessary to proceed with the negotiation or completion of a merger, acquisition, divestiture or sale of all or a portion of nVent’s assets.
- Other third parties. We may share your personal data with a recipient when it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, statute, rule, regulation, or professional standard, or to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other legal request. We may also share your personal data with others with your consent or at your direction (for example a referee or a professional association).
As part of a global group of companies operating internationally, nVent has affiliates and third-party service providers in countries outside of your country of residence and may transfer your personal data to those countries. HOW WE RETAIN YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We will keep your personal data for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Recruitment Privacy Notice.
nVent will retain personal data for unsuccessful applicants usually for a period of up to 12 months unless local law provides for shorter or longer retention period.
An exception to the above-mentioned standard retention period applies to personal data that is used for applications to job offerings of nVent group companies in the United States, where we retain personal data for a period of four (4) years after completion of your application process based on local rights and obligations.
Where legally required we collect your consent to retain your personal data for such period. If you want us to delete your data any earlier, please contact us as described in the CONTACT INFORMATION below. If you are offered and accept employment with nVent, the information collected during the application and recruitment process may become part of your employment record.
