At nVent, supporting our communities is part of our culture and values. Through the nVent Foundation and our broader nVent in Action program, we empower our employees to give to the causes they care about. As part of Global Volunteerism Month in May, we will be spotlighting some of our community partners.
Our next philanthropic partner is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), also known as the MS Society. nVent has supported the MS Society for over 10 years.
The MS Society has a mission to cure MS while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives. Curing MS is within our reach and the Pathways to MS Cures scientific roadmap has garnered the global consensus to lead us there.
The MS Navigator Experience provides customized support and connection, so people affected by MS know they are not alone. The NMSS advocates on a state and federal level to amplify the voices of people affected by MS.
nVent participates in Bike MS, one of the events offered by the MS Society. Bike MS is the largest fundraising cycling series in the world. Each year, nearly 50,000 cyclists and more than 5,000 participate in bike rides to support NMSS. In 2023, nVent had 4 teams with 25 members that rallied across the US including California, Minnesota, Ohio and Texas. These teams raised over $31,000 to support NMSS. There are nine team captains and nVent employees have the opportunity to participate in eleven events across North America. nVent's National Team is comprised of employees, friends and family from across the country. The team is supported by the nVent ENCORE ERG for fundraising, empowerment and education about MS.
“With each pedal and dollar raised, the nVent team showcases their steadfast dedication to the MS Movement, ensuring that vital support, healthcare, information and resources reach the millions of people who live with MS today.” said Sarah Meike, Director of National Teams at NMSS. “Their support is instrumental in advancing our mission of finding a cure and enhancing the quality of life for all those living with MS today.”
The NMSS has a community of more than 3.2 million supporters. They want to ensure every person living with MS has what they need to live their best lives. The MS Society has funded over $1.1 billion in research since 1946. This has paved the way for the MS treatment options that exist today.
“I have the honor of being the nVent Bike MS international captain. With everyone’s contributions and individual efforts, we are making a meaningful contribution toward ending MS forever.” said Linda Kiss, Vice President of Technology. “I am proud of the support I have from nVent and the ENCORE ERG toward the important mission of improving the lives of MS patients and creating a world free of MS through cycling and fundraising.”
