We are excited to announce that the Global ERG Network has honored our Grass Roots Environment and Sustainability Employee Resource Group (ERG) as a Top 25 ERG Award recipient in the annual Diversity Impact Awards® for the second year in a row! The Diversity Impact Awards are the premier annual awards to recognize, honor and celebrate the outstanding contributions of employee resource groups, business resource groups (BRG) and diversity councils. The Top 25 ERGs Award celebrates the success of individual ERGs. Grass Roots will be recognized at the awards ceremony in Charlotte, NC, during the 2024 Global ERG Network Conference in October.
This October is also a significant month for Grass Roots because it’s the same month the ERG will celebrate its fifth anniversary. Grass Roots was nVent’s first ERG. Since its founding, membership has grown to more than 500 people in 19 countries! We are proud of their efforts to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of sustainable practices among nVent employees, and identifying opportunities for the company to improve its sustainability efforts. Grass Roots plays a critical role in driving meaningful and impactful change across our organization.
Grass Roots continuously implements new initiatives that positively impact nVent. Throughout 2023, Grass Roots partnered with nVent’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) leaders to complete 36 site assessments designed to educate employees and identify sustainability projects. They also shared best practices that support the execution of improvement projects. This process generated many innovative ideas, helping to develop an extensive funnel of projects for consideration. The assessment process was also digitized, resulting in a more formal and streamlined process for 2024. Site assessments resulted in the implementation of 40 projects globally to reduce water, waste and emissions.

The 2024 Diversity Impact Awards are scored using the ERG Strategic Impact Model. ERGs and diversity councils make up a critical lever in the execution of an organization’s inclusion and diversity strategy. The most successful organizations directly align their inclusion and diversity strategies to their business strategies. The ERG Strategic Impact Model represents those key areas upon which ERGs, BRGs and diversity councils should focus to drive organizational results.
