Manufacturing Institute Webinar V2

Manufacturing Institute Webinar and Report Spotlights nVent

On September 26, the Manufacturing Institute (MI) with support from Colonial Life hosted a panel discussion focused on the report, “The Role of Culture and Employee Engagement in Workforce Attraction and Retention”. nVent's Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer, Laura Brock, was one of the five panelists in the webinar. The panelists represented the following companies: nVent, Power Curbers Companies, Tusco Manufacturing, L&L Products and Colonial Life.

In the webinar, they discussed the study that was conducted from March-May 2023. The study identifies key aspects of company culture, impacts of culture on attraction and retention and methods of engaging employees. The study consisted of two online surveys, one with 340 self-identified full-time employees in the manufacturing sector and the other with 137 manufacturing leaders across sectors. There were in-depth interviews conducted with 7 manufacturing leaders. The MI describes employee engagement as the process through which you can transmit your culture and generate employee buy-in.

“Positive culture impacts our bottom line, if it is prioritized, everyone wins,” said Brock.

Similarly, the panelists faced the challenge of helping people be better leaders when they have a more “old school” leadership style. One panelist noted that it can help to set clear expectations in terms of how your company would like leadership to operate.

Page 18 of the report details nVent’s progress on company culture, “Of the companies that were interviewed, nVent was likely the furthest along in its approaches toward increased diversity, equity and inclusion . . . their efforts have paid off, with nVent winning awards and, in Brock’s view, helping with attraction and retention.”

“It is refreshing to see leaders of organizations large and small prioritize the importance of diversity and inclusion and the impact on engagement and business outcomes,” said Brock.

We are thrilled to be included in the MI’s Employee Engagement and Culture Report. nVent strives to continue improving our company culture and employee engagement.
