September was our Charting Courses’ Employee Resource Group (ERG) celebration month. At nVent, celebration months are an opportunity to honor and bring awareness to the initiatives of our ERGs.
The mission of Charting Courses is to build an inclusive and supportive environment that educates and supports nVent employees in discovering their career goals and expanding their horizons to encourage a continuous growth mindset. The ERG provides resources for employees early on in their careers, new to a role or department, looking to network or pursuing career development.
To kick off their celebration month, Charting Courses held “Lead By Example”, a series that showcases the breadth of leadership within nVent. This specific session highlighted Martha Bennett, nVent Chief Marketing Officer, sharing her personal and career journey.
“Early in your career, you have the freedom to explore different types of roles and functions, to sort of learn about yourself and learn what your strengths are and learn what gives you passion,” said Bennett. “I always tried to pay attention to where I am getting those sparks of joy or interest or passion and really listen when that's happening because that usually will direct you in the right way.”
All year round, Charting Courses holds weekly Wordle challenges for its members. On September 19, Charting Courses collaborated with our Encore ERG for a Generations in the Workplace: Slang Edition event. Attendees played a Kahoot with slang from different generations and the top three winners received prizes. At the end of the month, the ERG held their quarterly member coffee chat featuring experienced guests across regions, functions and segments to discuss career paths and offer career advice.
At nVent, our people are at the core of our business. Our ERGs are formed by employees who share a common interest, background or experience. They are responsible for leading our employee-driven inclusion and diversity efforts. ERG leaders and members support each other, foster awareness of diversity and promote inclusion and respect throughout nVent.
